The Perfect Cozy Day: A step-by-step guide

ICYMI, I did a winter giveaway consisting of all things cozy. I love a good ski day or tromp through the snow, but my favorite part of winter is having an excuse to be warm under a soft pile of blankets on a pillowy couch, until I in fact morph into the couch.

The items in my giveaway were curated to elevate your cozy day and transport you to a nordic mountain cottage next to a warm hearth (but actually what even is a hearth? Idk but it sounds nice). If you’re looking to beat the winter doldrums and maximize your comfort this season, this guide is for you. Pay close attention.

  1. Step One:  If you take away only one thing from this list, let this be it. A perfect cozy moment starts with the perfect cozy blanket, and the perfect blanket is without a doubt the Mon Chateau Luxury Faux Throw. You absolutely must run, not walk to this luxuriously soft, beautifully heavy, queen-size throw. It sells out FAST and for good reason.

  2. Step Two: Obviously, you have to light a candle to get the ambiance right. Might I suggest Grandpa’s Leather Chair? It’s a warm and powdery fragrance combining teak wood with soft honeysuckle and jasmine to create an immensely comforting and nostalgic scent.

  3. Step Three: Brew a hot cup of tea. Inspired by the tea served at Sundara, Wisconsin’s premier day spa, Tulsi Tea is a unique, intoxicating blend of clove, spice and a hint of sweet mint. It is full of antioxidants as well as adaptogenic herbs that soothe stress and anxiety. I love DelighTea’s Tulsi Tea, as it’s organic, ethically sourced and distributed by a small woman-owned business.

  4. Step Four:  You need a lovely mug in which to hold your tea. Clay in Motion Pottery is a husband-and-wife pottery duo based in Oregon that makes gorgeous hand-thrown mugs (check out their famous hand warmer mug!).

  5. Steph Five: Lastly, you need a gripping novel to reach peak relaxation. There is something so magical about tuning the world out on a winter day by turning off the phone and TV and opting for a book. If you need a recommendation, I suggest anything by Kristin Hannah, but especially The Great Alone. Each of her books explore complex mother/daughter relationships amongst tumultuous circumstances. The Great Alone will keep you on the edge of your seat, stir your emotions and will warm your icy heart.

Enjoy!
